Randomosity

Post by eeemeee on Sun Mar 29, 2009 3:32 pm

First topic message reminder :

I wasn't really sure what to put this sort of thing under... so I figured "Randomosity" would work; a thread for any random, not exceptionally important thing you want to mention to everybody can go. If any of you special peoples can think of anything better to call/do with this thread, go ahead and do it.

Now, on to what I wanted to say. Did any of you celebrate Earth Hour? March 28th, people around the world turn off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 PM their local time. It's really awesome, because it conserves energy, and also makes for some amazing pictures of whole cities and even sections of the world blacked out. I celebrated it, and my siblings and I had a ton of fun running around and acting crazy in the dark. Very Happy

Oh, and apparently the idea originated in Australia... so therefore it's inherently cool, right? tongue

Does anyone think I should upload a tracing of an old picture I took of myself with Photo Booth one time? The tracing isn't that bad, but I'm still at debate with myself whether to use it as my deviantID or not.

EDIT: Nevermind, the program force quit on me and I hadn't saved it yet. Oh well.

You know, the banner image slightly looks like Phineas giving Nazi salute.

Well, that would go a long way in explaining his glazed eyes and vacant expression...

No, a vacant expression is more circular pupils and a lazy-eye. The only thing that makes it remotely close to vacant is the half-lidded eyes.

I was tying to make a joke. The internet is apparently NOT for sarcasm.

So... anybody watching the Olympics?

I have been... but more excitingly, I was just up in Vancouver and it was incredible!

Didn't actually go watch anything (wouldn't have been able to afford a ticket Razz), but because I'm just around two hours south of Vancouver, and I have relatives who live there that let us sleep at their house, we just figured-- hey, let's go up and see the city while the Olympics is on!

Twas absurdly crowded (the queue for the zipline thing was over eight hours), but with the awesome skytrain, getting around wasn't hard at all. I saw the flame-- the queue to get a good view of that was crazy too, but luckily my aunt works at a building right next to it (she can see it from her desk) and she let us go up to the balcony of the building and take pictures there.

We also went to the Olympic Store at The Bay... there was a lineup just to get into the store, let alone buy anything. Razz But I got a CANADA shirt and a cool pin, so I'm quite happy.

And the other awesome thing is that it was quite obvious that there were people from all over the world there. I saw lots of flags-- Canadian more than anything, but also American, German, Norwegian, Australian, Russian. And I also heard snippets of a whole bunch of different languages. Twas quite quite awesome. Very Happy

I just don't see the importance of making a new thread for this, but…

You may all (especially those of you who know of my stance on social networking sites) want to take a look at my latest blog post.

I went for the countries that my family's from, such as Hungary, Lithuania, Ireland, and Poland. But if none of them were in there, I guess I HAD to go for USA.

OK, now I see why you cheered for Canada. Yeah, sometimes I'm too lazy to look at where everybody is.

I'll tell you one thing, I REALLY didn't wany anymore Koreans to win in speed skating. They win too much.

Normally I would probably be offended by that, but oddly enough, I'm not. Slightly though.

In the future, maybe you should word your cheers better to be more politically correct. Don't want an international online war, do we?

I don't really mind. Half of my family is from Canada & I know nothing about the other half. I've lived here in the US my whole life. Actually I've never left the west coast. I've only been to Oregon, Washington, & California.

I'm learning Polish since my grandmother's all-Polish though she's lived in the US all her life. Then again, my grandfather's all Hungarian, same life, US. I just find Poland more interesting.

I'm in Tennessee and the farthest I've been was to Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm on the east coast of course and I always go to Michigan. Well, twice a year or something. Last visits weren't too great though. Funerals.

My family's pretty much all Italian on my mom's side, with a little Irish I think, and on my dad's side...French maybe? Or Scottish? I'm not sure, I'm pretty much a mish-mash of random heritages. Razz

From New Hampshire, I've been to Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, and Florida. And Canada. Once.
