Animation

Post by Roy42 on Wed Mar 25, 2009 9:23 am

First topic message reminder :

Animation has come a long way from those doodles in the bottom corners of our workbooks during class that have us running or whatever. Now it's just about all done with computers, you'll hardly ever see actual animation, but it still has a nice feel to it, sometimes it's cartoon childish happpy funtimes, sometimes it can get serious, like, uuuuhhhh...

Well, discuss the animated scene here.

But those other two "Cartoon Cartoons" still had good concepts and went for a long time anyway.

I just don't like calling those shows Cartoon Cartoons, as far as I'm concerned, those 8 are the only real ones.

Hehe, I actually like Flapjack, but yeah, gotta miss the classics. And Out of Jimmy's Head! A live-action show! On Cartoon Network! Life...life doesn't make sense anymore.

And the worst part of it: even after they canceled Out of (yes!!!) they're now bringing another live action show!!! A reality show, of all things!

I mean, isn't TDI awesome enough for them?! That show was funny, this'll be lame.

I like TDI... but REAL reality tv... uggh

I've never seen OOJ Head but i've seen HM and TSRaven... i think Disney and Nick ought to focus more on creating good 90s style cartoons

Well let's remember, this isn't the place to be bashing live action or talking about it in detail anyway.

That was a long time for me, but I do remember the animated series and watched it regularly. I liked it a lot. I also so Spiderman, but of the two, I liked Batman better.

Batman was the best. Some of the greatest writing ever. It even got 2nd place in IGN's top 100 animated television series, behind The Simpsons.

1.Grim adventures of billy and mandy :The only reason i liked this program was because i loved grim. His accent his cloak....anyway i didnt like billy that much but i liked mandy!

2.Pokemon : (explained above)

3.Tom and jerry : I thought it was funny when i was young but when i got older i realised what they where doing to each other.....

4.Ok this one may sound werid but i used to like the reruns of inspector gadget (im way to young to have been around at the time they where actually aired)

5.Scooby doo (ok this is another one i liked when i was young...i liked shaggy!)

Actually the only cartoons i watch on tv are PaF and The Grim adventures and occasionally i watch Mew mew kitty Very Happy

I still get a chuckle out of Billy and Mandy, but really the only episode I constantly watch of it is "Little Rock of Horror" and only because it was the episode that got me into Voltaire, so glad for that.

That was an alright one as well, I hate wish episodes of any show where they all do something nice for each other, or where everyone does disappear, but it's because they wished for "Peace on Earth and goodwill towards man."

I use to watch a lot of animation back then, such as the old Disney shows ("Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers", "Ducktales", etc...), as well as a lot of "Looney Tunes" and "Tom and Jerry". I also watched a lot of Nickelodeon shows back then such as "Rocko's Modern Life" and "Spongebob Squarepants".

Right now, "Phineas and Ferb" is my obsession, if you will. I am not a big on Japaneese animation, though.

I LOVE YOU!!!.... okay, maybe I don't, well, I'm npt saying I hate you... erg, well, I'm just so glad to have finally found someone!

Okay, seriously, Grim was like my own personal Doofy back in the day, accent, some article of clothing that sways epicly, extremely thin, "villianous", suppose to be the "unlovable one", stupid in such a CUTE way!! MYRRRH!!

I loved Mandy's personality and am trying to make an animation just for the heck of it (not for TV, but for me) with a character similar to that of hers. Rude, Cold, Seemingly Emotionless in a Cold Way (Ferb's like that but in a happy, bubbly, loving way!). Anyways, I never got into Billy so much either, I like noses and all (I mean, that's another benefit from P+F; Awesomely Strange Noses) but that was just TOOOO much Billy for one to handle. Except having an overly-dramatic, emotional, cheery character isn't too bad either, I mean, what we do if Phineas was a suicide?

Alright, several animations I watched back in the day (besides from Grim Adventures and 'Grim and Evil'... and the one with 'Carne' or something in it's name, despite all of those) I watched:

Edd, Ed, and Eddy
Rocko's Modern Life
Ren and Stimpy (a very small bit, yet enough to remember 'Happy Happy Joy Joy' and 'Log')
Hey Arnold!
Early Spongebob, but then when the new "rules" for animation came around and they dropped the dirty stuff and replaced it with sick, disgusting things that weren't even funny (except I never get tired of 'BIG! SCARY!... AND PINK!' I mean, what are they really referring to?)
Johnny Bravo (smetimes, when my dad felt like it, lol, TV was controlled by him when my mom wasn't around)
Pinky and the Brain (Yes, Brain, but me and Pippi Longstocking? WHAT WOULD THE CHILDREN LOOK LIKE!?)
Animaniacs
The occaisional 'Cow and Chicken' or 'I Am Weasel' except they were a little... ack.
Dexter's Labrotory (spelling?)

That's really all I watched and absolutely NOTHING else from the usual.

Recently while going back and re-living my childhood (lol, I'm 13, that couldn't have been very long ago) I realized what kind of amazing innuendos flew by radars (and they always wonder why our generation is so screwed up?). But while I was just checking to see when the next P+F episode was coming on I accidentally pressed a button and 'Guide' page on my DISH thing when up a few paces, as we may call them, and discovered 'Edd, Ed, and Eddy'. Man, I got so excited I had to scroll through them for a little while and discovered that MY CHILDHOOD REMAINS ON PUBLIC BROADCAST!!... sort of... they're still missing 'Johnny Bravo' but heck, that was more of my dad's show.

Well, I'm off to go re-watch some of my favorites!!

And after much thought I have come to the conclusion that Grim was the early-mid 2000 version of Doofy! And after thinking I have found similar (yet obvious) traits they share:

o Accent
o Villian, "Evil"
o Stupid in an EXTREMELY cute way
o Epicly Swaying Article of Clothing
o "Not American"
o Single, Bad with Girls, "The Unlovable One"
o Extremely Thin (they are equally thin)
o Talkative
o Kind at Heart
o Sometimes Acts a Slight on the Homosexual Side (Grim especially)
o They are totally awesome!

Hmm, anyone agree?

N'aw, but I like it! Whenever Doof like, throughs himself at Perry I get this deep, burning feeling down inside which only leas to me loving him even more and trying to claim him and show Perry that I can get his butt any day when Doofy's involved, in fact, if he even touches Doofenshmirtz in a harmful way, I SHALL KILL HIM!!! Okay, violent tonight (I read an Invader ZIm quote and now I'm going insane, doesn;t take much!), but I wil kick his butt!

And that is why I love the homosexual stuff. Like when Doof was missing Perry I practically flung myself at the TV and was all like ,"I shall be your nemesis!" and that's always somewhat exciting. Okay, I exaggerated a bit but that's what makes it fun right? I mean, if soaps weren't so overly dramatic, what would be the fun in that?
